ENGL 523 - Educational Linguistics 3 Hour(s) Credit Examines the intersections of language and power in educational settings and provides a linguistic analysis of gate-keeping practices in schooling. Core topics focus on critical evaluations of linguistic discrimination, erasure, bias and marginalization of dialect diversity/linguistic variety in multiple educational contexts. Three hours per week. Prerequisites ENGL 536 or permission of instructor.
