Earth Science, B.S. Secondary Education Track Curriculum Guide (Suggested 4-Year Plan of Study)
Earth science majors seeking certification for teaching in secondary school must meet additional requirements in education. Students pursuing secondary teaching certification should contact the Secondary and Physical Education Department for advisement early in their program.

All courses applied to the major must be completed with grades of C or better.

The Geography and Geosciences Department recommends that the lower-division core courses (GEOG 201 , GEOG 204 , GEOG 219 and GEOL 103 ) be completed prior to GEOG 414 .

Transfer students must complete a minimum of 15 semester hours with grades of C or better in geology/geography at Salisbury University, at least 12 semester hours of which must be at the 300/400 level.

University Undergraduate Major Policies
- Refer to the program page for this major and the Courses section of this catalog for approved prerequisites and General Education courses.
- Requirements may not equal 120 credit hours. Students must register for additional electives to complete 120 credits required for graduation.
- All graduates must have a minimum of 30 credits of 300/400-level courses with C grade or above; at least 15 of those credits must be taken at SU.
- Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 for graduation.
- Students must complete at least 30 credit hours by direct classroom instruction and/or laboratory experience.
- Students must take 30 of the last 37 credit hours at SU.
- It is the student’s responsibility to satisfy graduation requirements. Please refer to the program page of this catalog for detailed major requirements.
- Students must apply online for graduation by November 15 for May and by May 15 for December.

In order to enroll in professional education program courses, students must meet the following requirements: - Complete an application for formal admission to the professional program. Obtain written approval of the application from both content and education advisors.
- Complete a minimum of 56 college credits with a minimum of 2.50 GPA, including transfer credits.
- Have a cumulative minimum GPA of 2.75 in the major, including transfer credits.
- Complete all pre-professional requirements.
- Complete four courses in the major field.
Professional Education Requirements

Internship and Seminar - 14 Hours
Candidates must meet the following requirements for internship:
- Complete the written application for internship.
- Complete a minimum of 90 credits including methods and at least 8 courses of the academic major (secondary and K-12 programs).
- Have an overall GPA of at least 2.50 including transfer credit.
- Have a minimum GPA of at least 2.75 in the academic major courses, including transfer credit, as defined by the academic department.
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.75 in professional education courses with no grade below C. Students may repeat education courses only once.
- Obtain verification of completion of requirements from the coordinator of clinical practice.

Graduation Requirement
Official scores on all certification examinations required by the State of Maryland must be sent from the testing company to Salisbury University as a requirement for graduation. Scores on the edTPA must be among those sent to the University before graduation.
