South Asian Studies Minor

Advisement for the minor is available from the Philosophy Department.
The South Asian studies minor is an interdisciplinary area studies program with a study abroad requirement, as well as the opportunity to complete most of the minor via a semester abroad at a foreign SU partner institution.
- Complete at least 1 course for the minor while studying in a South Asian country.

No more than 9 transfer credits may count toward the minor. (Note: Students may count 4 courses/16 credits completed via the semester-long Salisbury Abroad: American Institute of Indian Studies program toward the minor, as these are not transfer credits, but SU courses executed abroad via SU’s partner institution in Pune, India.)

Earn grades of C or better in all courses taken for the minor.

No more than 1 course in the minor may be used to satisfy General Education requirements.

University Undergraduate Minor Policies
Salisbury University minors require:
- The completion of at least 18 credits with grades of C or better.
- At least 15 credits applied toward the minor must be coursework that is not used to satisfy General Education requirements.
- At least 9 credits must be earned at SU.
Minor Requirements
* When offered with a South Asia-focused topic.
Language Requirement
Complete a minimum of 2 courses in one South Asian language or 1 course each in 2 different South Asian languages or 1 8-credit South Asian language course or demonstrate equivalent language knowledge (to be determined via appropriate examination).
