The health humanities minor is an interdisciplinary minor designed to promote the integration of the humanities in the understanding and practice of health care and medicine. Drawing on insights from literature, philosophy, communication, psychology and other fields, the minor fosters critical reflection on the meanings of health, illness and human suffering as well as the diversity of responses to such experiences. It prepares students for responsible decision-making as health professionals or citizens through rigorous examination of the values and principles guiding health care and the socio-cultural context of health problems.
Requirements for the minor in health humanities include the following:

Complete a minimum of 5 courses.

Courses must be taken from at least 4 different disciplines.

Earn grades of C or better in all courses taken for the minor.
