Music Therapy, B.A. Curriculum Guide (Suggested 4-Year Plan of Study)
Major is pending National Association for Schools of Music (NASM) accreditation.
The Music Therapy Program is designed for students who wish to pursue careers as board-certified music therapists in clinical settings. This is a Maryland state-approved comprehensive program that emphasizes music skills required of music therapists, including accompaniment, improvisation and performance proficiencies in piano, guitar and voice. Students complete a variety of psychology and biology courses, as well as several field studies and a rigorous internship at an American Music Therapy Association (AMTA)-approved site.
Students completing the major in music therapy must complete all music and music therapy courses with grades of C or better and maintain a grade point average of 2.75 to remain in good standing with the program.
