FREN 352 - Women, Gender and the Literary 4 Hour(s) Credit Through the study of lyric and fictional pieces of literature, as well as historical and theoretical texts, explore the way in which women, femininity and gender roles are depicted in French literature throughout the centuries, with a focus on how the French Revolution shifted discourses on the place of women in society. Examine key ideas, including the concept of femininity, the status of women as writers and readers, and such oppositions as nature versus culture, emotion versus reason, private versus public and object versus subject.
