MUSC 301 - Jazz Theory

An introduction to jazz melody and harmony with particular emphasis on the innovations of bebop and its resultant styles. A historical perspective, analytical approaches to harmony and melody and short compositional and arranging exercises provide students with the tools to synthesize materials.
Three hours per week with enhancement.
Prerequisites MUSC 201 or permission of instructor.
