FYS IDS03 - Acadia to Assateague: Exploration and Comparison of Coastal Communities and Envrionments

An interdisciplinary comparison of the coastal regions of Acadia (Mount Desert Island, Maine) and Assateague/Ocean City (Maryland). Explore the Assateague region in depth - its seashore, landscapes, and communities - and then compare those experiences with the natural and cultural components found in Acadia. Includes a required 10-day field study in Acadia National Park, held after the semester ends, with an additional estimated program cost of $1,500-$2,000 covering travel, meals, activities, and accommodations.

Meets General Education: First Year Seminar (FYS)
May Not Receive Credit for Both FYS IDS03 and IDIS 100. Students may not receive credit for two FYS courses. Taking a second FYS will replace the original FYS grade, regardless of topic.
