FYS SPN01 - Beyond Borders: Exploring Culture Unplugged 4 Hour(s) Credit Embark on a transformative academic adventure with Beyond Borders: Exploring Culture Unplugged, a First-Year Seminar designed for a dynamic study abroad experience. Goes beyond traditional learning, immerse in a new cultural landscape where experiential learning and critical inquiry take center stage. Through hands-on exploration, you will develop academic preparedness by engaging with complex ideas, while enhancing your thinking skills through the analysis of data in real-world contexts.
Navigate this immersive experience, gain awareness of the academic and community resources that support success in college and beyond. You will explore different sources of knowledge and learn how expertise and specialization shape professional fields, all while tackling global challenges by analyzing cultural dynamics and their impact on societies. Led by dedicated instructors and local experts, you will step outside the classroom and into real-world cultural encounters that challenge your perspectives, expand your understanding, and foster personal and academic growth.
By the end of this course, you will not only be prepared for future academic challenges but also equipped with the intercultural awareness and analytical skills needed to navigate our interconnected world. 15 hours per week for four weeks Meets General Education: First Year Seminar (FYS) May Not Receive Credit for Both if a second FYS is taken. Taking a second FYS will replace the original FYS grade, regardless of topic.
