This is a macro practice specialist course offered in the Social Change and Leadership Specialization. Emphasizes an understanding of mental health disorders from a critical sociological and anthropological perspective. Learn about common mental health disorders, including symptoms, manifestations and cultural variations. Learn skills in mental health advocacy and in establishing cross-systems care of for people who experience mental health issues. Look at community collaboration, addressing service gaps and identifying disproportionality, racial disparities, other discriminatory biases and practices in mental health services.
