ART 271 - Glass I


4 Hour(s) Credit
Learn the basic skills needed to work with hot glass, with an emphasis on teamwork and safety. Through demonstrations and hands-on practice, learn foundational skills in glass blowing, hot sculpting and finishing techniques. Learn basic principles of composition and modes of using glass as a material for artistic expression. Explore the history of glassmaking though individual research projects. Gain an understanding of issues and concerns within contemporary glass art and design. Studio work outside of class and group critique of students’ work also are required.
Six hours per week.

Major Prerequisites ART 121 , ART 130 .
