The Department of Computer Science offers a Bachelor of Science in computer science that is flexible to individual student’s goals and interests. The department introduces students to a software engineering core of mathematics, computer programming, computational theory, systems programming, and database design and implementation. Students then have the opportunity to experiment with or concentrate on many diverse fields within computer science such as networking, security, robotics, machine learning and artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, computer graphics, and human-computer interaction. The department has many opportunities that enhance the student’s learning experience both inside and outside the classroom. The department provides up-to-date programs with state-of-the-art equipment as well as undergraduate research, internships and consulting opportunities. The computer science curriculum prepares students for graduate study or for careers in any field of computer science, such as software development, systems analysis, network and database administration, super-computing, systems security, and robotics.
