ENGR 361 - Vibrations, Control and Optimization 3 Hour(s) Credit Introduction to modeling, analysis and simulation techniques for the design of vibratory systems. Identification and prevention of unwanted oscillations or engineering of the desired oscillations in mechanical systems, civil structures, biomechanical systems and microelectromechanical systems. Topics include modeling of vibratory systems; single degree-of-freedom systems: governing equations, free response, periodic excitations and transient excitation; and multiple degree-of-freedom systems: natural frequencies, mode shapes and forced oscillations. Four hours lecture/activity per week. Prerequisites ENGR 220 , ENGR 221 , MATH 311 .
