The Community Health Program is accredited as a Standalone Baccalaureate Program (SBP) by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) as a generalist program focused on community and public health. CEPH is located at 1010 Wayne Avenue, Suite 220, Silver Spring, MD 20910, 202-789-1050.
Two programs in the Department of Chemistry are approved by the American Chemical Society Committee on Professional Training, a specialized scientific society founded in 1876 and recognized though an Act of the U.S. Congress in 1937. The program in exercise science is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), a specialized accrediting agency recognized by the CHEA. The Committee on Accreditation for the Exercise Sciences (CoAES) serve as an arm of the CAAHEP and reviews all programs seeking specialized accreditation status in exercise science. The baccalaureate program in respiratory therapy is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). CoARC, formerly a specialized arm of the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), became a freestanding accreditor of respiratory care programs as of November 12, 2009. The programs in teacher education are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), 1140 19th St. NW, Suite 400, Washington, D.C., and the Maryland State Department of Education. The CAEP is the sole accrediting body for educator preparation providers and is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
